In collaboration with P5 Studio and Italian leather crafter Frag, AR_T is a project that seeks to reinvent the Ele chair by Michele di Fonzo, into an object that exists in the realm between art and design.
Respecting the dedication and craft to the Ele chair, Elemental envisions leather as a form of viscous matter — Like how water will take shape of its surroundings, the design of an object often takes lead from its core functionalities as well. Inspired by John Brauer's surrealist lines for the Illusion table, Elemental is conceived by casting a large piece of leather over an Ele chair's structure and contouring its core form, communicating how the use of leather in furniture can provide a new lease of life and purpose for this noble material, achieving a deconstruction-in-progress look.
